The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals, including a Canadian national, in connection with an alleged arson attack that destroyed a residential apartment at Oyarifa Anointed Down in the Greater Accra Region.

In a press release dated December 27, 2025, the Ghana Police Service disclosed that the Greater Accra Regional Police Command effected the arrests following investigations into what has been described as a deliberate act of unlawful damage.

The suspects have been identified as Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, a Canadian national, and her Ghanaian boyfriend, Mohammed Issah. According to the CID, the duo were tenants occupying the affected apartment at the time of the incident.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly set the apartment ablaze on December 23, 2025, completely destroying the property. Police say the act was carried out without any apparent provocation, raising serious concerns about criminal intent.

Mohammed Issah was arrested on the same day of the incident by officers of the Ayimensah Abokobi Police, shortly after the fire outbreak was reported. His alleged accomplice, Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, reportedly went into hiding following the incident but was later tracked down and arrested from her hideout on December 25, 2025.

Confirming the arrests, the CID stated that both suspects are currently in police custody and are actively assisting investigators as inquiries continue. The Police Service further assured the public that the suspects will be arraigned before court to face charges in accordance with Ghanaian law once investigations are concluded.

The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and enforcing the law, while urging the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing relevant information to aid ongoing investigations.
