The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a fresh round of scheduled maintenance works across key operational regions on Thursday, March 12, 2026, as part of efforts to improve service reliability and strengthen the stability of Ghana’s electricity distribution network.
According to notices issued by the power distributor, the planned engineering works will temporarily disrupt electricity supply in several communities within Greater Accra and the Central Region. The company explained that the exercise forms part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing power quality and reducing long-term service interruptions.
Maintenance to Begin at 9:00 AM
ECG indicated that all the maintenance operations will begin at 9:00 am, although the restoration time will vary depending on the scale of technical work in each operational area.
In the Accra East Region, engineers will carry out maintenance works from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting several communities and institutions within the area.
Areas expected to experience power interruptions include:
- Ashongman Estate
- Pure Water
- East Legon
- French School
- MJ Grand Hotel
- Chez Afrique
- East Legon Police Station
- Nearby surrounding communities
Residents and businesses in the East Legon enclave have been advised to make adequate preparations to manage the eight-hour power disruption.
Accra West Communities Also Affected
Similar maintenance activities will take place in the Accra West Region, where ECG technicians will also operate between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Communities expected to be affected include:
- Oshiyie
- Alogboshie
- Achimota Neoplan
- Benjilo
- Mateheko Roman Church
- Adjoining neighbourhoods
ECG noted that the works in this corridor are critical to improving electricity supply reliability for residents and businesses within the area.
Central Region to Experience Two Maintenance Exercises
In the Central Region, two separate maintenance exercises have been scheduled for Thursday.
The first operation will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, affecting:
- Brimso Water Works
- Bronyibima Estate
- Nearby communities
A second maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting:
- Senya Township
- Fetteh Township
- Ojobi
- Bonsuoku
- Surrounding communities
These areas, which include coastal settlements and farming communities, have been urged to cooperate with ECG engineers during the exercise.
ECG Apologises to Customers
In its advisory, the Electricity Company of Ghana apologised to customers for the inconvenience the planned outages may cause to both households and businesses.
However, the company emphasized that the temporary disruptions are necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and stability of the national power distribution network.
ECG assured the public that the maintenance works are part of broader efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure and deliver improved service quality to consumers across the country.
