The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of 20-year-old Kofi Mensah at Tweapease-Aboo in the Bediem District.
The suspects, identified as Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye, were apprehended after intelligence-led police operations conducted across multiple locations in the Obuasi Municipality.
Suspects Arrested After Attempt to Sell Stolen Motorbike
According to a police statement, the arrest followed a report made to the Bediem District Police Command on October 6, 2025, by the Assembly Member for the area. The report indicated that the victim, Kofi Mensah, had been attacked, killed, and robbed of his Haojin motorbike.
After days of coordinated surveillance, police arrested Solomon Opoku on October 10, 2025, at the Council Quarters in Obuasi when he allegedly attempted to sell the stolen motorbike.
Further investigation led officers to arrest his accomplice, Collins Aboagye, at Kokotesua, another suburb of Obuasi.
Suspects Confess to Crime; Stolen Motorbike Recovered
Both suspects reportedly admitted to committing the crime during police interrogation. The stolen Haojin motorbike has since been retrieved as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, October 13, 2025.
