Ghana Joins Global Media Freedom Alliance at Paris Peace Forum 2025

At the closing session of the 2025 Paris Peace Forum in Paris, France, President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s unwavering commitment to strengthening media freedom and safeguarding information integrity. The forum, which focused on “Information Integrity and Independent Media,” brought together global leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the future of democracy in the digital age.

President Mahama announced that Ghana is now a full member of the Partnership for Information and Democracy, a global initiative aimed at promoting ethical journalism and combating disinformation. Ghana also pledged support for the International Fund for Public Interest Media, reinforcing its role as a continental leader in press freedom and democratic governance.

Ghana remains steadfast in advancing the frontiers of freedom, upholding the rule of law, and serving as a model nation in promoting democracy and good governance,” Mahama stated during the forum.

He emphasized the need for continued support of journalists and institutions that uphold integrity and accountability, calling for greater transparency from digital and AI platforms. Mahama also urged international cooperation to protect information as a shared global asset.

This move positions Ghana as a key player in the global fight against misinformation and underscores its dedication to fostering a resilient, independent media landscape.
