Ghana Warns Youth Against QNET and Fraudulent Overseas Recruitment Schemes

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a strong public warning to Ghanaians, particularly the youth, about the deceptive and dangerous activities of fraudulent recruitment networks, including the controversial international marketing company QNET.

In a public announcement dated March 13, 2026, the ministry expressed concern over the growing number of Ghanaian nationals being lured abroad through misleading promises of employment and business opportunities.

According to the ministry, these networks are increasingly using sophisticated recruitment tactics to target young people seeking better opportunities overseas.

The schemes reportedly involve promises such as:

  • Non-existent job opportunities abroad
  • Fake business investment prospects
  • Fraudulent offers to facilitate visas for travel to Europe

However, the ministry warned that the reality for many victims is often harsh and dangerous.

Officials say several individuals who fall prey to these schemes end up stranded in foreign countries, detained by immigration authorities, or forced to endure exploitative living and working conditions.

The government has therefore urged the public to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly verify all travel, recruitment, or business offers through official government channels before making any payments or travel arrangements.

The ministry also stressed its commitment to working with other national institutions to combat the activities of criminal networks that prey on unsuspecting citizens.

Parents, guardians, and community leaders have also been encouraged to help raise awareness about the dangers associated with fraudulent overseas recruitment schemes.

Members of the public who encounter suspicious travel or recruitment offers have been advised to report them immediately to the Ministry through the following contacts:

  • Email: consular@mfa.gov.gh
  • Phone: +233 204 552 750
  • Alternative Contacts: +233 240 913 284 / +233 240 793 072

Authorities reiterated that legitimate international travel, employment, and business opportunities always involve transparent processes that can be verified through official diplomatic and government institutions.

The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to protect citizens and curb transnational fraud and exploitation targeting Ghanaian youth.
