Rising Scam Concerns Ahead of Screening
According to the Ministry, some applicants have reported receiving fraudulent SMS messages requesting payments purportedly to facilitate medical screening. Authorities have clarified that such messages are scams and should be ignored.
The Ministry emphasized that no applicant is required to send money to any mobile money number, stressing that all such requests are fraudulent attempts to exploit unsuspecting candidates.
Official Communication Timeline
To ensure transparency, the Ministry outlined a clear communication schedule:
- Official SMS notifications will be sent between March 29 and March 31, 2026
- Medical screening will officially commence April 7, 2026 at designated centres nationwide
Applicants are advised to rely only on these official communications and disregard any messages received outside this window.
Verification Process for Applicants
The Ministry further explained that shortlisted candidates will notice their status updated on the recruitment portal from “Qualified” to “MEDICAL SCREENING.” Only after this update should applicants proceed with any required payments, and strictly through the official online portal, not mobile money channels.
Public Advisory and Anti-Fraud Measures
As part of broader efforts to curb recruitment-related fraud, the Ministry urged applicants to:
- Verify all messages before taking action
- Avoid engaging with middlemen or unofficial agents
- Report suspicious communications through official channels
The warning comes amid increased attempts by fraudsters to exploit public recruitment exercises, a trend authorities say they are actively working to combat.
