The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to carry out significant, scheduled maintenance today, Thursday, October 9, 2025, affecting electricity supply across five key regions.

This essential exercise is being conducted to enhance service delivery, improve network stability, and ensure a more reliable power supply for customers.

The maintenance work, which was announced in separate notices by ECG on Wednesday, will impact parts of the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, and Volta. Most areas will experience an outage period from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected Regions and Specific Areas

Customers in the following regions and communities should prepare for temporary interruptions to their electricity supply:

Greater Accra Region (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

• Communities affected include Otinibi, Danfa, Kerman, Oyibi, Amrahia, and New Bortianor.
• Other areas are Adanseman, Cassava Farm, Mr. Obeng Block Factory, Oshiyie, Dome Mega Church, Paa Dan, Israel, Alhaji, and surrounding communities.

Tema (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

• Outages expected in King Solomon, Santor, Aunty Araba, Agbeshie Laryea, Nelplast, Kubekro, Klagon, Mobole, Otsebreku, Okushibri, and Apollonia.
• The affected list also covers Jerusalem, Katamanso, Promised Land, Elegant Homes, Data Centre, and nearby areas.

Ashanti Region (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

This is the most extensive list of areas for the day.

• Major areas include Atwima Agogo, Mfanse, Mankranso, Kunsu, Sepaase, Nkawie, Mpasaetia, Abuakwa Maakro, Abakomade, and part of Tanoso, Pokukrom, Abuakwa, and Kasapreko.
• Further communities include Formulation, Asonomaso, Atwima Manhyia, Atwima Koforidua, Tabre, Ntensere, Asakraka, Asempaneye, Afari Military Hospital, Seidi, Hiawu-Besease, Kontomire, Nnerebehi, Mankranso, Boatenkrom, Bonkwaso, and their environs.

Central Region (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

• The maintenance will affect part of Ankamu Junction, the Apam District Assembly area, Apam, Manford, and Gomoa Dago. Note the slightly earlier end time of 4:00 p.m. for this region.

Volta Region Maintenance (GRIDCo)

In addition to the ECG works, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) also announced a separate, shorter maintenance operation at the Aflao Bulk Supply Point in the Volta Region.

• Timeframe: This operation will only last two hours, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
• Affected Volta communities include Denu, Aflao, Ave Town, Hedzranawo, Kedzi, Adina, Agavedzi, Keta, Afiadenyinba, Nakyikope, Abor, part of Akatsi, Dzodze, and surrounding communities.

Both ECG and GRIDCo emphasize that these actions are part of essential, regular system upgrades designed to stabilize the power network and guarantee the long-term reliability of electricity supply for all customers.

The companies expressed their “deep regret” for the inconvenience the power interruptions will cause. Customers are advised to take all necessary precautions to minimize the impact of the outages during the specified hours.
