President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama have arrived in Beijing, China, to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, jointly hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women.
The high-level event, scheduled for October 13–14, 2025, will bring together world leaders to renew the spirit of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and accelerate global commitments toward women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Celebrating Milestones in Women’s Empowerment
The conference coincides with two major milestones — the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was originally held in Beijing.
President Mahama’s participation underscores Ghana’s continued commitment to advancing women’s rights, economic inclusion, and gender equality, both domestically and globally.
