GAF Completes 2025 Recruitment Phase 1; Tattoos and Double Piercings Cause Immediate Disqualifications

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully completed the first phase of its 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, screening nearly 17,000 applicants across the country in a rigorous process designed to uphold the institution’s high standards.

The initial screening, which resumed on November 20 after a one-week technical suspension, was concluded on Monday, November 24, marking the end of a meticulous and uncompromising stage of the recruitment journey.

Strict Document Verification and Body Selection

The screening began with a thorough document verification exercise, during which officers examined certificates, identification documents, and application details to ensure accuracy and authenticity.

Only applicants who passed this stage advanced to the body selection inspection, widely known as one of the most daunting parts of GAF recruitment. Here, officials assessed candidates based on physical fitness, physical appearance, and compliance with ethical standards.

Recruitment officers disclosed that numerous applicants were immediately disqualified for violations such as:

  • Double ear piercings
  • Visible body drawings
  • Tattoos

These markings are strictly prohibited in the Ghana Armed Forces, and offenders were turned away without hesitation.

Next Phase: Written Examination

Confirming the successful completion of the first phase, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain Tey, announced that only qualified applicants will advance to the next stage.

He revealed that the upcoming phase will be a written examination aimed at testing candidates’ general knowledge, reasoning ability, and cognitive competence.

Applicants who made the cut will receive messages in the coming days with full details regarding the exam date, venue, and guidelines.

GAF Reaffirms Transparency and High Standards

Captain Tey assured the public that the Armed Forces remain committed to fairness, transparency, and professional integrity throughout the recruitment exercise.

He emphasised that the GAF’s screening procedures are carefully structured to ensure that only the most disciplined, capable, and qualified individuals are selected to serve.

As the recruitment process continues, thousands of hopefuls await the next stage, with dreams of proudly wearing the Ghana Armed Forces uniform.
