GES Confirms 2025/2026 Academic Calendar for SHS and SHTS Students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially confirmed the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic year for all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) across the country. The announcement brings clarity to students, parents, and school administrators as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

According to the GES, the calendar remains consistent with the previously released schedule, ensuring continuity and stability in the academic planning process.

Key Dates for the 2025/2026 SHS Academic Year

For Single Track Schools:

Form 1 & 2 Students:

Reopening Date: January 5, 2026
Mid-Year Break: February 27 – May 3, 2026
End of Academic Year: August 21, 2026

Form 3 Students:

Reopening Date: January 5, 2026
Short Break: Late February – Mid-March
End of Academic Year: June 21, 2026

For Double Track (Transition) Schools:

Students will follow a blended learning model, with designated off-campus learning periods.
These off-campus sessions are not vacations but are part of the official academic program.
Online learning platforms will be utilized to ensure academic continuity during these periods.

The GES has called on all heads of institutions to strictly adhere to the confirmed calendar and ensure that teaching and learning activities are not disrupted. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to support their wards in preparing for the academic year, especially during off-campus learning periods.

This confirmation is part of the Ministry of Education’s broader efforts to stabilize the academic calendar following disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in previous years.

Students should take note of the dates and prepare for both in-person and online learning.
Parents are advised to support their children’s academic journey, especially during off-campus periods. Educators and school administrators must implement the calendar without deviation.
