In a vital move for African diplomacy and economic self determination, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has announced that The Accra Reset will take center stage at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
Scheduled for Thursday, 22 January 2026, “The Davos Convening” will be a high-level side event co-hosted by President Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo. This event marks a critical milestone for an agenda that has rapidly gained international traction since its initial launch at the UN General Assembly last year.
The Accra Reset is more than just a policy framework; it has become a rallying point for African-led solutions. By bringing this transformative agenda to Davos, President Mahama aims to shift the narrative from Africa as a recipient of aid to Africa as a leader in global problem-solving.
“The momentum has been extraordinary,” President Mahama stated, highlighting that the world is increasingly looking toward the Global South for leadership in shaping future global systems.
The primary goal of the Davos session is to expand the Power of the Agenda by bringing together global heads of state, CEOs, and thinkers to align with the Accra Reset vision. Build Strategic Partnerships by moving from dialogue to implementation by securing commitments for infrastructure, technology, and economic reform and to also demonstrate African Leadership by highlighting the continent’s capacity to navigate complex global challenges, from climate change to financial system restructuring.
The presence of heavyweights like Olusegun Obasanjo alongside President Mahama underscores the pan-African nature of this mission. The “Davos Convening” is expected to be one of the most watched side events of WEF 2026, as it represents a unified front for the Global South.
With the eyes of the international community on Davos, the message from Ghana is clear: Africa is no longer just participating in the conversation, it is charting the path forward.
