Fumbisi to Kanjarga Road Worsens After Heavy Rainfall: Voice of Buluk Calls for Urgent Action

The Fumbisi to Kanjarga road in the Builsa South District has once again deteriorated after a heavy downpour, raising fresh concerns about road infrastructure in Buluk. A team from Voice of Buluk embarked on a ride along the stretch and witnessed firsthand the deplorable state of the road.

Potholes, Mud, and Washed-Out Gravel

The road, already riddled with deep potholes, becomes nearly impassable whenever it rains. Rainwater washes away large portions of gravel, leaving behind muddy surfaces that make movement for vehicles and pedestrians extremely difficult. On days without rainfall, the problem takes a different form: heavy dust clouds cover the road whenever vehicles pass, exposing commuters to respiratory health risks.

Impact on Economic and Social Development

The poor nature of the Fumbisi-Kanjarga road is more than just an inconvenience—it is hampering economic development in Buluk.

Farmers struggle to transport produce to markets, businesses face increased costs, and health care delivery is affected as ambulances and medical supplies are delayed. Even children’s education is at risk, as students find it difficult to commute to school during the rainy season.

Risk of Road Collapse if Rains Persist

During their inspection, the Voice of Buluk team observed that if the rains continue at this pace, certain sections of the road may be completely washed off, cutting off communities and worsening the plight of residents.

Call for Government Intervention

The deteriorating condition of roads in Buluk highlights the urgent need for government intervention. The Fumbisi to Kanjarga road, like many others in the two districts, requires immediate rehabilitation to improve accessibility, protect livelihoods, and safeguard public health.

Voice of Buluk remains committed to advocating for better road infrastructure in Buluk, and continues to shed light on the struggles of residents until the necessary action is taken.
