The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (@_GHSofficial), GIZ, and the AYA Integrated Healthcare Initiative, has officially launched the First National Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Research Conference in Ghana. Themed “Advancing Ghana’s NCD Research Agenda Towards Attaining Primary Healthcare Goals,” the event marks a pivotal step in the country’s commitment to tackling the growing burden of NCDs through evidence-based policy and innovation.
The conference brings together researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and development partners to explore strategies for integrating NCD research into Ghana’s broader primary healthcare framework. With NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases on the rise, the initiative aims to foster collaboration, share data-driven insights, and shape interventions that are both sustainable and equitable.
Speaking at the launch, officials emphasized the importance of aligning research with national health priorities and leveraging partnerships to build resilient health systems. The event also serves as a platform to showcase local research, identify gaps, and chart a roadmap for future studies that can inform policy and improve health outcomes.
This inaugural conference signals Ghana’s growing leadership in health research and its dedication to achieving Universal Health Coverage through strategic investment in NCD prevention and management.
