Voice of Buluk, a community-focused media and advocacy platform dedicated to telling the stories of the Buluk, has officially announced the launch of a transformative youth empowerment program dubbed the “VOB Digital Skills Initiative.” The initiative is aimed at equipping young people in Buluk with practical, income-generating digital skills using tools as accessible as a smartphone or laptop.
The VOB Digital Skills Initiative is a strategic response to the growing challenges facing the youth of Buluk, including unemployment, limited opportunities, rural–urban migration, idleness, and increasing vulnerability to social vices such as illicit drug use. Through this initiative, Voice of Buluk seeks to rewrite the narrative of Buluk by turning young people from passive observers into active participants in the digital economy.
Bridging the Opportunity Gap in Buluk
Voice of Buluk has observed that many young people in Buluk possess brilliant ideas and untapped potential, yet lack access to the opportunities, exposure, and training needed to transform those ideas into sustainable livelihoods. This gap has left many youths feeling stuck, hopeless, and disconnected from a future they can control.
The VOB Digital Skills Initiative is designed to close this gap by introducing participants to the vast opportunities available through the internet, social media, and artificial intelligence (AI), sectors that continue to create jobs globally, regardless of location.
“Our youth are not lazy or incapable; they are simply underexposed. With the right skills and mindset, a young person in Buluk can compete globally from their smartphone,” Voice of Buluk’s team lead noted.
Skills Participants Will Learn
Participants enrolled in the initiative will receive hands-on training in in-demand digital skills, including:
- Content Creation – Creating engaging digital content for social media and online platforms
- Social Media Skills – Managing pages, growing audiences, and leveraging platforms for income
- Smart Designs – Basic graphic design using mobile-friendly tools
- AI Tools Usage – Practical introduction to AI tools that enhance productivity and creativity
Importantly, no prior experience is required. All that is needed to qualify is a smartphone, while having a laptop is considered an added advantage.
Completely Free and Open to All Willing Youth
In a move that underscores its commitment to community development, Voice of Buluk has made the VOB Digital Skills Initiative completely free to attend. There are no registration fees or hidden costs.
The initiative is open to all willing youth living in Buluk who are ready to learn, grow, and take control of their future.
A Vision Beyond Skills: Changing Mindsets and Futures
Beyond skills acquisition, the VOB Digital Skills Initiative aims to change how young people think, act, and believe in themselves. By exposing participants to real digital opportunities, Voice of Buluk believes the training will inspire a new generation of innovators, freelancers, digital entrepreneurs, and responsible digital citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the development of Buluk.
Buluk, the organization emphasizes, is tired of losing its brightest youth to drugs and unplanned urban migration. The solution, they believe, lies in empowerment, not escape.
