Ghanaian musician Captain Planet has stirred major controversy on social media after criticizing the “overly revealing” outfits worn by some young female attendees at the Tidal Rave 2025 event held at La Palm Beach on Saturday, November 14.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the 4×4 member expressed shock at what he described as inappropriate dressing, questioning whether the young women involved were “models or pornstars.”
He wrote:
“I just dey see some dressings from yesterday’s Tidal Rave. Chale, some of these small small girls, I don’t know whether them be models or pornstars. What the hell is happening in Ghana?”

His comments quickly went viral, generating heated debate across social media platforms.

Public Reaction Split

Reactions to Captain Planet’s remarks have been sharply divided.
A section of fans and social commentators agreed with him, arguing that some outfits were “excessively revealing” and crossed the line of cultural decency.

Others, however, accused him of being old-fashioned, arguing that the event was a beach party, where more relaxed and revealing fashion choices are typical. Many also emphasized that young people should be free to express themselves through their clothing without moral policing.

The conversation has since reignited Ghana’s long-standing societal debate on decency, dress codes, cultural values, and personal freedom, especially at youth-centered entertainment events.

Tidal Rave Records Massive Turnout

Despite the controversy, the 2025 edition of Tidal Rave recorded massive patronage. The event featured electrifying performances from top Ghanaian and international artistes including:

  • Black Sherif
  • Gyakie
  • Moliy
  • Darko Vibes
  • OlivetheBoy
  • Shatta Wale

Adding to the excitement, Nigerian star Ayra Starr delivered a high-energy performance with hits such as “Hot Body” and “Dat Girl.”

The event, organized in partnership with the Black Star Experience (BSE) under the Office of the President, was marketed as a celebration of music, fashion, youth culture, and entertainment.

Fashion or Indecency? The Debate Continues

While Tidal Rave has always embraced bold fashion and creative expression, Captain Planet’s comments suggest that some attendees may have pushed boundaries too far, at least in his view.

As the debate continues, cultural analysts say the issue reflects a broader societal tension between evolving youth trends and traditional Ghanaian values.
