UDS Crowned World Champions in Historic FISU Football Victory

In a groundbreaking moment for African university sports, the University for Development Studies (UDS) has been crowned world champions after winning the 2025 FISU World University Football Championship in Dalian, China. UDS defeated defending champions Paulista University of Brazil with a thrilling 2–1 victory, marking the first time an African university has claimed the prestigious title.

The road to victory was paved with resilience and brilliance. UDS overcame the University of Granada in a nail-biting 5–4 penalty shootout during the semifinals, thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Emmanuel Edo, whose clutch saves electrified fans and teammates alike.
