Ghana’s Finance Minister Ato Forson Announces Countdown to 2026 Budget Presentation

The countdown has officially begun. Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has taken to social media to announce that the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy will be presented to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025. This marks a pivotal moment for the Mahama administration, as it unveils its first full-year fiscal blueprint since returning to office.

In a post on his official X account, Forson declared:

“THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN!
Exactly ONE WEEK to #BUDGET2026
Through your resilience and sacrifice, we have stabilised the economy.
Now, it’s time to grow, to transform, and to build the Ghana We Want!”

The 2026 Budget is expected to signal a major shift in Ghana’s economic direction, moving beyond the transitional framework of the 2025 budget. Analysts anticipate bold reforms in taxation, job creation, and fiscal management, especially as the country prepares to exit its IMF programme in May 2026.

Forson’s message underscores a renewed commitment to inclusive growth and national transformation. Citizens have been invited to share their expectations for the budget, sparking widespread engagement across social platforms.

As the nation awaits the presentation, stakeholders from across sectors—business, civil society, and academia—are watching closely. The upcoming budget is not just a financial document; it’s a roadmap for Ghana’s future.
