Police in Begro have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of murdering his girlfriend at a guest house in Ehiamankyene, located in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region. The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and has since sparked tension within the community.

According to police reports, the victim visited the suspect at the guest house on Wednesday but failed to return home. Her prolonged absence prompted her younger brother to search for her early Thursday morning. Upon arriving at the guest house, he discovered a horrifying scene: his sister lying motionless in a pool of blood with a kitchen knife beside her.

Shaken by the discovery, he alerted nearby residents before rushing home to inform their parents, who subsequently notified the police.

The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh, confirmed the tragic incident. Community sources revealed that the victim’s family had not approved of her relationship with the suspect, despite the couple having a child together.

Police officers retrieved the body and transported it to the Begro Government Hospital morgue for autopsy as part of ongoing investigations. Authorities say the suspect fled the scene and is currently on the run.

Meanwhile, tension erupted in the community as some enraged youth reportedly set fire to the suspect’s motorbike and also torched the guest house allegedly owned by him. Police officers intervened swiftly, urging the youth to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.

The Begro Police Command has assured the public that every effort is being made to locate and arrest the suspect to ensure justice is served.
