In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held impactful bilateral talks with His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The discussions centered on strengthening Ghana-Qatar relations, with both nations currently negotiating visa easing arrangements aimed at facilitating trade, boosting tourism, and fostering closer ties. A major announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
During his official visit, Hon. Ablakwa commended Qatar for its extraordinary diplomatic efforts in brokering the recent peace agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He praised Qatar’s role as a mediator in global conflict zones, highlighting its commitment to peace and stability.
“As a pacifist nation renowned for UN peace operations, Ghana will continue to support countries with shared values such as Qatar who are making tremendous and inspiring sacrifices to mediate and broker peace across multiple theatres of conflict,” Ablakwa stated.
This renewed partnership reflects Ghana’s strategic foreign policy direction, emphasizing collaboration with nations that champion peace, development, and regional stability.
