Vice President Engages Complementary Education Agency on Strengthening Inclusive Learning Nationwide

Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, recently held a strategic meeting with the leadership of the Complementary Education Agency, led by Hon. Daniel Kwasi Ashiamah, Acting Executive Director. The high-level engagement focused on enhancing the Agency’s capacity to deliver inclusive and impactful complementary education across the country.

During the meeting, the Vice President acknowledged the pressing issue of staffing shortages within the Agency and the challenges this poses to sustaining and expanding its reach. She emphasized the need for strategic interventions to ensure the Agency continues to fulfill its critical mandate.

Reflecting on the Agency’s past achievements, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted a remarkable milestone where learners, through instruction in local languages, were able to cover nearly two years’ worth of syllabus content in just nine months. This success, she noted, underscores the transformative power of mother-tongue instruction in improving comprehension and learning outcomes.

The Vice President also broadened the conversation to include skills development beyond traditional classroom settings. She encouraged the Agency to explore partnerships with local artisans and skilled professionals who could volunteer their expertise to support learners, particularly in underserved communities.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed deep appreciation for the Agency’s role in expanding educational access to marginalized populations. She assured the leadership of the Government’s readiness to provide necessary support as part of its broader agenda to promote inclusive education and ensure that national development leaves no one behind.

This engagement marks a significant step toward strengthening Ghana’s educational framework and empowering communities through accessible, relevant, and inclusive learning opportunities.
