The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned power outages across several regions on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as part of ongoing maintenance exercises aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply nationwide. The scheduled interruptions will affect communities in the Accra East, Accra West, Ashanti, Tema and Volta operational regions.
According to ECG, the temporary outages are necessary to facilitate maintenance works on the distribution network and enhance service delivery to customers. The company has apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents and businesses in affected areas to make adequate preparations ahead of the exercise.
Accra East and West, to Experience Day-Long Interruptions
In the Accra East, power supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Communities expected to be affected include Lakeside Communities 7, 8 and 9, New Legon, A&C Mall, AH Hotel, East Airport International School and nearby areas.
Meanwhile, customers in parts of the Accra West Region, including Oduman, Manhean, Odawna and surrounding communities, will also experience outages during the same period as engineers undertake maintenance activities on the network.
Ashanti Region Faces Multiple Maintenance Exercises
The Ashanti Region will witness the largest number of scheduled maintenance works, with several communities expected to be affected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Areas listed for the outages include Akrofuom, Wiamase, Kokotenten, Aduaneyede, Atonsu, Gyinyase, Ahinsan Estates, Kotei, Chirapatre, Daban, Apraman, parts of Sokoban, Dompoase, Santasi, Fankyenebra, Osam, Kyekyewere, Kwapia and several adjoining communities.
The maintenance activities form part of ECG’s broader efforts to strengthen power infrastructure and reduce the occurrence of unplanned outages in the region.
Tema and Volta Regions Also Affected
In the Tema operational area, the maintenance exercise will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Communities expected to experience temporary power interruptions include Lebanon Zones 3 and 4, Zenu, New York, Aviation, Lashibi, Klagon, Community 19 Annex, Tsopoli, Shilo, Agortor, Nana Farms and surrounding areas.
Residents in parts of the Volta Region will also be affected. ECG indicated that Kopeiya, Nakyikope, sections of Akatsi Township, Ave Towns, Dzodze and nearby communities will experience outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while maintenance works are carried out.
ECG Urges Customers to Prepare
The power distributor has advised customers to plan ahead and make alternative arrangements for activities that depend heavily on electricity. ECG assured the public that power supply would be restored immediately after the successful completion of the maintenance works.
The announcement comes as the company continues to embark on periodic maintenance projects across the country to improve network stability, reduce technical faults and ensure a more reliable power supply for homes and businesses.
