Ghana’s Black Queens have booked their place in the third round of the African qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games after recording a commanding 7-0 victory over Mauritius at the Essipong Stadium on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The emphatic second-leg triumph gave Ghana a 10-0 aggregate victory, following their 3-0 win in the first leg in Mauritius last Thursday. The result strengthens the team’s pursuit of a historic first appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

Black Queens Dominate from the Start

The Black Queens wasted little time asserting their authority, putting the Mauritian defence under sustained pressure with their attacking movement and offensive intensity.

Captain Portia Boakye, Evelyn Badu and Ajegipina Zakaria found the net in the first half to give Ghana a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

Despite their comfortable advantage from the first leg, the Ghanaian side continued to attack after the restart, determined to finish the tie convincingly in front of the home supporters.

The visitors struggled to contain Ghana’s attacking threat as the hosts maintained their dominance and created further opportunities to extend their lead.

Late Goals Complete Ghana’s 7-0 Victory

The Black Queens continued their scoring run in the second half, with substitute Benedicte Simon making an immediate impact by finding the net in the 73rd minute.

Jennifer Cudjoe subsequently converted a penalty to increase Ghana’s advantage before Nancy Amoh and Mukarama Abdulai added two late goals to complete the 7-0 rout.

The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 10-0 aggregate victory for Ghana, underlining the team’s superiority across both legs of the second-round tie.

Ghana Advance to Third Round of Olympic Qualifiers

The victory takes the Black Queens into the third round of the African qualifying competition as they continue their campaign for a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.

Ghana have never qualified for the women’s football tournament at the Olympic Games, making the current campaign an important opportunity for the national team to achieve a historic milestone.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his players will now turn their attention to the next stage of the competition, where the opposition is expected to present a tougher challenge.

The Black Queens will need to maintain their scoring form, defensive discipline and consistency as the qualification process progresses.

For Ghana, the comprehensive victory over Mauritius represents a significant step forward. However, the ultimate objective remains securing one of the places available to African teams at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
