A 36-year-old man, Emmanuel Somiah, has died following a confrontation over a romantic relationship at Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, when Emmanuel visited the home of his girlfriend, Cynthia Nyarko, around 5 p.m. to retrieve some personal belongings.
According to eyewitnesses, Emmanuel unexpectedly encountered another man, identified only as Jeff, who was also visiting Cynthia at the time. What began as a heated verbal exchange reportedly escalated into a violent struggle inside the house.
“We heard shouting and the sounds of a fight, but it suddenly went quiet. When I entered, Emmanuel was lying motionless. Cynthia claimed she didn’t know what had happened,” one witness recounted.
Emmanuel was quickly transported on a tricycle to a nearby health facility, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police in Atwima Mponua District have since arrested Cynthia Nyarko to assist with investigations, while a manhunt has been launched for Jeff, who allegedly fled the scene.
The District Police Command has assured the public that a full-scale investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
