Children’s Support Fund Receives Over GHS 3.5 Million and $20,000 for Victims’ Children of Helicopter Crash

The Children’s Support Fund, created to safeguard the welfare of children who lost their parents in the tragic August 6, 2025 military helicopter crash, has received GHS 3,576,600.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.

The Presidency, in an update released on Friday, August 29, 2025, confirmed that the contributions were made between August 19 and August 28, 2025.

Background of the Fund

The fund was established following the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight high-profile government officials, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Its primary aim is to support the education, healthcare, and general welfare of the children left behind by the victims.

According to the Presidency, contributions have come from both corporate bodies and private citizens.
