The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has authorized the release of GH¢370,000 from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to support the rehabilitation and maintenance of selected roads and related infrastructure in the constituency.
According to a statement issued by the MP’s office on Thursday, September 17, the intervention is intended to address particularly deteriorated sections of roads while broader government-led road projects are being pursued.
The initiative, the statement said, is aimed at improving transportation, facilitating economic activities and enhancing residents’ access to essential services across Builsa South.
Roads to benefit from the intervention
The funds will be distributed across several road projects in the constituency.
The Doninga–Kanjarga Road has been allocated GH¢50,000, while another GH¢50,000 has been earmarked for the Doninga–Siniensi Road.
The Uwasi–Fumbisi Road will receive GH¢40,000, with GH¢100,000 allocated to the Kanjarga–Fumbisi Road, according to the statement.
The Nyambisa Road and Bridge has been allocated GH¢30,000, while GH¢50,000 will go towards the Wiesi–Fumbisi Road.
The statement also included an earlier GH¢50,000 release for emergency works on the Uwasi–Fumbisi and Zamsa–Fumbisi roads, bringing the total amount cited by the MP’s office to GH¢370,000.
Dr. Apaak cites concerns from residents and road users
The MP’s office said the intervention follows concerns raised by residents, farmers, traders and transport operators over the deteriorating condition of some roads in the constituency.
Dr. Apaak was quoted as saying that he personally witnessed some of the difficulties residents face during a recent visit to Builsa South.
“Good roads are essential for development. They connect our people to opportunities, markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.”
He said the available resources were being used to address immediate infrastructure challenges while major road projects remained the responsibility of central government agencies.
According to the MP, the interventions are expected to help improve mobility, reduce transportation difficulties and costs, facilitate trade and improve access to essential services.
MP pushes for broader road rehabilitation
Beyond the immediate road maintenance programme, Dr. Apaak’s office said the MP is continuing to engage relevant government institutions over more extensive road improvements in Builsa South.
The statement said he is pushing the contractor working on the Builsa South section of the Chuchuliga–Sandema–Wiaga–Fumbisi–Wiesi road to accelerate work.
It also indicated that the Doninga–Sandema Road, which the MP’s office described as being in poor condition, is expected to see work soon, with a contractor expected to be deployed to the site.
The MP is also encouraging the Minister for Roads and Highways to pursue the rehabilitation of feeder roads across Builsa South.
His office said Dr. Apaak will continue engaging the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Feeder Roads and other relevant stakeholders to secure more comprehensive and sustainable road infrastructure projects for the constituency.
