Ghana’s Energy Minister has issued a public apology to citizens over the recent wave of power outages, acknowledging the inconvenience caused and assuring that urgent steps are being taken to stabilise electricity supply across the country.

Speaking amid growing public frustration, the Minister emphasised that government is fully aware of the challenges households and businesses are facing due to the intermittent power supply. He stressed that efforts are underway to restore consistent electricity and prevent further disruptions.

Government Responds to Growing Power Concerns

The Minister expressed empathy for affected Ghanaians, noting that the situation is being treated with the highest level of urgency. He reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring a reliable and uninterrupted power supply nationwide.

This response comes at a time when several parts of the country have experienced erratic electricity supply, raising concerns about a possible return to prolonged outages, popularly known as “dumsor.”

Technical Challenges Behind the Outages

Recent developments indicate that the outages are linked to technical challenges within the power generation and distribution network. A fire incident at the Akosombo substation and multiple network faults have significantly impacted supply in parts of the country, while maintenance works have also contributed to temporary disruptions.

Engineers and technical teams are currently working around the clock to address these issues and restore full functionality to affected systems. Authorities have assured the public that these interventions are necessary to strengthen the long-term reliability of Ghana’s energy infrastructure.

Assurance of Improved Power Stability

The Energy Minister reaffirmed that all available resources are being deployed to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. He assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to delivering stable and dependable electricity, a critical requirement for economic growth and daily life.

While acknowledging the current difficulties, the Minister urged patience from the public, expressing confidence that ongoing interventions will soon yield positive results.

The outages have sparked widespread concern among citizens and businesses, many of whom rely heavily on consistent power for their operations. The government’s response and speed of resolution will be closely monitored as Ghanaians look forward to a return to stable electricity supply.
