Mr. Adii also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Mr. Abukari Dramani and Mr. Apula Felix for their dedicated training of the volleyball and handball teams, respectively.
Sports and Academics: A Winning Combination
Highlighting the synergy between sports and education, Mr. Adii reminded students that athletic success should go hand-in-hand with academic achievement. He emphasized that sports enhance cognitive development, build resilience, and teach time management — all essential skills for lifelong success.
“Being a student-athlete means being disciplined, focused, and driven — both on the field and in the classroom,” he said.
In a moving address, Mr. Michael Addapiim, Headmaster of FUMSEC, expressed deep pride in the students’ accomplishments. He praised the team for competing fiercely against better-resourced schools, emphasizing that their success was a testament to resilience, discipline, and unity.
Despite financial constraints, Mr. Addapiim reaffirmed the school’s commitment to supporting its athletes. He revealed that the school had to make tough decisions to manage limited resources but never compromised on nurturing talent. In a powerful gesture of dedication, he pledged to personally fund the printing of certificates if necessary — a promise that drew heartfelt applause.
“It’s not just about rewards,” he said. “It’s about recognizing effort, encouraging hard work, and making the most of every opportunity.”
Looking Ahead with Pride and Purpose
The 2025 Sports Awards Night was more than a celebration — it was a rallying cry for continued excellence, unity, and growth. With the right support, FUMSEC’s student-athletes are poised to reach even greater heights, inspiring their peers and uplifting the entire community.
