WAEC Releases 2025 BECE Results: How to Check Online and Key Statistics

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.

According to WAEC, results for school candidates will be dispatched to their respective schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education.

In addition, candidates who wish to access their results online can do so via the Council’s official website www.waecgh.org. The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

2025 BECE Results: Statistics

A total of 603,328 candidates sat for the examination, consisting of:

  • 297,250 males
  • 306,078 females
  • Candidates came from 20,395 participating schools
  • 72 candidates with visual impairment
  • 239 candidates with hearing impairment
  • 161 candidates with other special needs

The examination was conducted at 2,237 centres nationwide, with 2,526 candidates absent.

Examination Malpractices and Sanctions

Following investigations into cases of examination malpractice, WAEC’s 36th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee approved the following actions:

  • 718 candidates: Subject results cancelled
  • 177 candidates: Entire results cancelled
  • 1,240 candidates: Subject results withheld
  • 93 candidates: Entire results withheld

Additionally:

  • Subject results of candidates from 119 schools have been cancelled.
  • Subject results of candidates from 87 schools have been withheld pending further investigation.

WAEC noted that withheld results may either be released or cancelled depending on the outcome of investigations by September 6, 2025.

How to Check Withheld or Cancelled BECE Results

Candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld should:

  1. Visit https://es.waecgh.org
  2. Click on the “withheld/cancelled results” button on the homepage.

The page will display the reasons for the action taken. For withheld results, candidates will also receive instructions on the next steps. Heads of schools and proprietors can access this information using their results listing login.

WAEC Cautions Against Fraudsters

WAEC strongly cautioned candidates, parents, and stakeholders against dealing with fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. The Council stressed that BECE results are highly secured and can be independently verified.

The Council expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, and Examiners, for their contributions toward the smooth conduct of the 2025 BECE and the timely release of results.
