The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted a teacher of Bole Senior High School (SHS) in the Savannah Region following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student, as investigations into the matter intensify.

The decision comes after reports and a viral video allegedly linked the teacher to inappropriate conduct with a female student. The incident has generated widespread public concern and renewed discussions about student safety and professional conduct within Ghana’s educational institutions.

According to reports, school authorities initiated an internal investigation after the allegations surfaced online. The teacher, believed to be a science tutor at the school, was reportedly accused of engaging in inappropriate behaviour with a final-year student in one of the school’s science laboratories.

GES Takes Immediate Action

In line with established disciplinary procedures, the Ghana Education Service has interdicted the teacher pending the outcome of investigations. Interdiction is a standard administrative measure that temporarily removes an employee from active duty while allegations are examined.

Education officials have reiterated their commitment to protecting students and ensuring that all allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated and handled in accordance with the law and the GES Code of Conduct.

The move is expected to allow investigators to carry out their work without interference while safeguarding the integrity of the investigation process.

Student Safety Remains a Priority

The case has sparked concern among parents, education stakeholders, and child rights advocates, many of whom have called for a transparent and impartial investigation.

Student welfare experts have stressed the importance of maintaining safe learning environments and ensuring that any form of exploitation or abuse within educational institutions is addressed swiftly and decisively.

The Ghana Education Service has consistently maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct, abuse, and any behaviour that compromises the safety and dignity of students.

Investigations Ongoing

Authorities at Bole SHS and education officials are continuing their investigations to establish the facts surrounding the allegations. The outcome of the probe will determine any further disciplinary or legal actions that may be taken against the teacher.

Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course while investigations remain ongoing.

The case is expected to remain under close public scrutiny as stakeholders await the findings of the investigation and any subsequent decisions by the Ghana Education Service.
