Buluk Power Outages: Residents Demand Answers from VRA and NEDCo

Source: VOB News Desk

The people of Buluk, which encompasses the Builsa North and Builsa South districts, are demanding answers from electricity providers regarding a month-long period of rampant, unannounced power outages.

The erratic and frequent blackouts, often occurring between 9 PM and 11 PM and lasting until the next morning, are disrupting daily life and causing serious financial losses.

The lack of communication from the Volta River Authority (VRA) and Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has fueled widespread speculation and frustration. Rumors about the cause of the outages, from technical failures to bizarre theories like “bats destroying electric cables,” have become common due to the information vacuum.

Residents report a consistent pattern of lights flickering on and off multiple times before going out completely. The power often fails to return until the following morning, sometimes as late as 10 AM.

This unpredictable schedule makes it impossible for families and businesses to plan their evenings and has led to the destruction of many household electrical appliances. The financial burden of replacing these devices is growing and is a major concern for the community.

The Builsa people are calling on VRA and NEDCo to release an official statement explaining the cause of the outages and to provide a consistent schedule for power cuts. A formal announcement with planned timelines would allow residents to prepare and protect their property.

Buluk deserves a reliable power supply and clear communication from the authorities responsible. The community is united in its demand for accountability and a swift resolution to this ongoing crisis.
