Dr. Clement Apaak Champions Early Childhood Education: GHC 70,745 in Learning Materials Bolsters Builsa South Kindergartens

In a significant boost to foundational learning, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak (NDC), has donated a comprehensive package of teaching and learning materials valued at GHC 70,745 to eight kindergarten schools in his constituency. This timely intervention targets the critical need to enhance the quality of early-grade education in the district.

The donation underscores Dr. Apaak’s unwavering commitment to education, a sector he has consistently supported as both a legislator and a member of Parliament’s Education Committee. His efforts follow the recent commissioning of several basic schools, which were subsequently handed over to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and their respective communities.

Extensive Resources for Foundation Learning

The extensive list of donated items is specifically curated to support an engaging and effective early childhood learning environment. These resources include:

  • Essential Furniture: Hexagonal tables and chairs for pupils, as well as new tables and chairs for teachers.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Kits: Phonics books, big books, storybooks, wall charts, talking mats, and numeracy kits.
  • Art and Practical Supplies: Crayons, pencils, markers, scissors, glue, and A4 paper.
  • Play-Based Learning Aids: Toy boxes, counters, shape sets, footballs, and various foundational teaching and play aids.
  • Curriculum Support: Curriculum guides for teachers.

These materials are crucial for implementing the new educational curriculum, which emphasizes child-centered, activity-based learning at the kindergarten level.

A Focus on the Educational Foundation

Representing the MP at the distribution ceremony, Mr. Caesar Akinkang highlighted the rationale behind the focused investment. “Quality education begins at the foundation level,” he stated. “Dr. Apaak, an educationist himself, is dedicated to ensuring that the young learners of Builsa South receive the best start possible.”

The District Education Director, Mr. Richard Akum-Nyemi, received the items for immediate distribution. Beneficiary schools expressed profound gratitude, labeling the gesture as timely and impactful for their pupils and staff.

Dr. Apaak, who also serves as a Deputy Minister of Education, has a track record of supporting educational initiatives in the Builsa South Constituency, including previous donations of dual desks and mathematical sets to BECE candidates. This latest contribution reaffirms his vision for an educated and empowered future for the youth of Builsa South.
