The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially set Tuesday, December 30, 2025, as the date for the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election.
This follows a ruling by the Tamale High Court on November 24, 2025, ordering that a fresh election be held within 30 days after determining that the previous poll required a rerun. The EC says it received a letter from the Clerk to Parliament on December 9, 2025, formally declaring the Kpandai seat vacant, thereby activating the process for the new election.
In a press release signed by Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director at the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department, the Commission confirmed that the rerun will be conducted exclusively for the three candidates who contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the constituency.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that following the Tamale High Court’s ruling ordering a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election within thirty (30) days, and upon receipt of a notification of vacancy from Parliament, the seat has become vacant,” the statement read.
The EC emphasized that only the original three aspirants who participated in the 2024 elections are eligible to contest in the December 30 rerun.
The upcoming poll is expected to attract significant national attention, given its impact on parliamentary composition and the heightened political interest surrounding the constituency.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible, and peaceful election, urging all stakeholders to cooperate to ensure a smooth electoral process.
