Two Violent Robbery Incidents Reported

The first attack took place on February 28 between Gadi and Chogsia communities. The suspects allegedly ambushed a teacher, Thomas Dormatey, robbing him of his mobile phone and GH¢2,600 after shooting him in the leg.

In a similar incident on March 8, another victim, Issah Ibrahim, was attacked around 7:30 p.m. while returning from Jaglu community. He was robbed of his phone and GH¢2,750 at the same location.

Police investigations reveal that the suspects operated with a consistent pattern, masked, armed with firearms and machetes, and hiding in nearby bushes before launching surprise attacks on unsuspecting victims.

Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Arrests

Following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering, police successfully apprehended the suspects at Chogsia. Victims later identified them as the perpetrators.

A search conducted during the arrest led to the recovery of two cutlasses and four mobile phones believed to be stolen.

Further investigations resulted in the arrest of a fourth suspect, Abdul Rahman Abdulai, at Gojiyiri near Wechiau. He is suspected to have supplied the firearm used in the robberies and subsequently led police to its retrieval from a nearby bush.

Manhunt Ongoing for Additional Suspects

Authorities have disclosed that two additional accomplices, identified only as Adil and Sambo, are still on the run. Police say efforts are underway to track and arrest them.

Court Proceedings and Police Assurance

The four suspects have been arraigned before the Wa District Magistrate Court and remanded into custody. They are expected to reappear on March 26, 2026.

The Upper West Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the region. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information.

This latest development marks a significant step in restoring calm in the Wa West District, as authorities continue efforts to clamp down on criminal activity in the region.
