The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced that first-year students in all Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country, including both Single Track and Transitional schools, are to report to school on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
This directive was contained in an official circular issued to all Regional Directors of Education as part of the newly released 2025/2026 academic calendar.
According to the statement, GES has instructed all Heads of Schools and Regional Directors to ensure strict adherence to the new academic calendar in order to guarantee consistency, smooth implementation, and effective teaching and learning across all schools.
Regional Directors have further been tasked to provide monitoring and support to Heads of Schools to ensure the successful rollout of the calendar.
The circular, signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, noted that a detailed academic calendar has been attached for implementation. This calendar outlines key term dates, holidays, and footnotes with special considerations aimed at ensuring a smooth academic year.
“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the statement emphasized.
With this announcement, parents, guardians, and students are encouraged to make the necessary preparations ahead of the reopening date.
