The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has received financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance for the payment of salaries owed to 6,249 newly recruited teachers from the 2024 batch.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 16, and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, the GES said the clearance allows it to finalise all administrative and payroll processes to ensure that affected teachers receive their due compensation.
“The Ghana Education Service (GES) announces that financial clearance has been granted for the payment of salaries of the remaining six thousand two hundred and forty-nine (6,249) teachers recruited in 2024,” the statement read.
Teachers to Receive Salaries by November 2025
According to the GES, although the financial clearance will expire on December 31, 2025, management is working to ensure all affected teachers are placed on the mechanised payroll in time for their November 2025 salary payments.
“Although this financial clearance expires on December 31, Management of GES will ensure that all staff are placed on the mechanised payroll in time for November 2025 payments,” the statement added.
GES Commends Teachers for Patience and Dedication
The GES management expressed gratitude to the affected teachers for their patience and commitment during the delay period. The Service reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring timely and accurate salary processing for all staff.
“Management thanks all staff for their dedication and remains committed to facilitating timely and accurate salary payments,” the release noted.
The clearance marks the final phase of salary regularisation for teachers recruited in 2024, following similar approvals earlier in the year that covered the first batch of newly engaged educators. The move is expected to boost morale among teaching staff and support the government’s broader efforts to improve education service delivery nationwide.
