In a groundbreaking move that marks a new chapter in Ghana’s development, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has announced the commissioning of new Passport Application Centres in all six of Ghana’s newly created regions. This historic achievement ensures that, for the first time ever, every region in Ghana will have its own dedicated Passport Application Centre.

Set to be officially commissioned this December, the new centres will eliminate the need for citizens to travel long distances to other regions for biometric data capture and passport processing. This initiative is a direct fulfillment of a promise made by Hon. Ablakwa to decentralize passport services and bring them closer to the people.

“Today, December 7, marks exactly one year since you overwhelmingly voted to reset Ghana,” Hon. Ablakwa stated. “We are determined to create that new Ghana and never to take your massive support for granted.”

In addition to the establishment of seven new Passport Application Centres this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also implemented a significant 30% reduction in passport application fees—from GHS500 to GHS350—making the process more accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians.

This development comes at a particularly opportune time, as thousands of Ghanaian football fans prepare to travel to the United States and Canada to support the Black Stars. With passport services now available in every region, the process of obtaining travel documents has never been easier.
