GRA Urges Festival-Goers to Request VAT Receipts at Hotels

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is calling on festival attendees to demand VAT receipts for all hotel transactions during the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afahye in Cape Coast.

Commissioner-General Anthony Kwasi Sarpong emphasized the importance of tax compliance as a cornerstone of national development.

Speaking to the media during the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afahye in Cape Coast, Mr. Sarpong highlighted the GRA’s ongoing public education efforts aimed at increasing awareness around tax obligations. He noted that paying taxes is not just a civic duty but a vital contribution to Ghana’s sustainable future.

This year’s festival, themed “Innovate to Elevate: Harnessing the Creative Economy for Sustainable Growth,” served as a platform for the GRA to launch a targeted radio campaign. The initiative focuses on the modified taxation programme, designed to bring small businesses—especially those currently outside the tax net—into formal compliance.

Mr. Sarpong praised the cultural significance of the festival and urged all participants to support national development by insisting on proper VAT documentation during their stay.
