The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) for the 2025 academic year officially goes live today, placing students who recently completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) into various senior high schools across Ghana.

Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, assured parents and guardians that this year’s placement exercise has been carefully programmed to run smoothly without human interference.

“Our students who completed BECE, whose results are out, will be placed through the CSSPS today. We expect the system to function exactly as it has been programmed to place them,” he said.

Placement is Free – Beware of Fraudsters

Dr. Apaak strongly cautioned parents and guardians against paying money to individuals claiming they can secure SHS placements. He stressed that the process is completely free of charge.

“Do not pay money to anyone who claims he or she can help you with placement. Anyone who demands money in exchange for placement is a fraudster and should be reported to the police immediately,” he warned.

Scramble for Grade ‘A’ Schools

The deputy minister acknowledged the high demand for spaces in Grade ‘A’ senior high schools but urged parents to accept placements in other schools, explaining that success is not limited to elite institutions.

“Success is not predicated on attending a Grade ‘A’ school. It depends on the commitment of the student, discipline, the support of parents, and, of course, the efforts of the school,” Dr. Apaak emphasized.

He added that although disparities in facilities exist between schools, such differences alone cannot determine a student’s future success.

Resolution Centre Set Up in Accra

To handle genuine challenges, the Ministry of Education has established a CSSPS Resolution Centre at the GNAT Hall in Accra. The centre will address cases such as students being wrongly placed in schools for the opposite gender or mismatched placements.

The centre, operating 24 hours a day with full security arrangements, will remain open until all concerns are addressed.

“By the time students report to school in a month’s time, all outstanding issues will have been resolved,” Dr. Apaak assured.

Key Message to Parents

The Ministry of Education is urging all parents and guardians to trust the CSSPS system, avoid fraudulent middlemen, and rely on the official resolution centre for any placement concerns.
